I have been wanting to make some inker stamps for a while -- had a few minutes before I turn in for the night tonight so I jumped into Photoshop and whipped this up. First try... don't kill me.

Gonna make another one that just says INKER but this one is for all the uneducated out there that come to an inker's gallery and assume we're tracers --- we should make them watch Chasing Amy so they think twice about calling us a tracer :lmao:

For example, I'm an embellishing inker --- that means I adjust lines as well as add detail to the lineart that I'm inking, or change patterns and details to give them better textures.

No tracers here! :D

Stamp template is the one extracted from °liquisoft's original stamps: [link]

What's a trace exactly? I'm a noob at these sort of things, but i would like to knw more of this. Because when I draw, I sketch it out in pencil and then I ink over it. I need to especially with my cartoons. Does that make me a tracer? :I

Sincerely worried,
SuperTramp

A tracer just copies over lineart exactly, line for line. An inker adds lineweights (even in cartoons), fixes small mistakes in the pencils, does special effects (like spatter), and basically works to improve on the pencils in the inked piece.

I don't think you need to be worried :D This stamp was just for people who like to insult comic book inkers by calling them tracers :)

Ooooooh, so like you have a rough sketch in pencil, then you use the pen, finalize what you want with detail? Is that it?

Sort of, yeah :D Inkers are what we call "finishers", and some of us are referred to as "embellishers" (inkers who add a lot more detail to the finished art).

Ok ok. So then. I sketch my cartoons, like a rough sketch on how I want things placed. I then ink it using different pens for specific part, if you can see my work you'll see what I'm getting at. I then use the thinnest of pens for small details. what would that consider me?

That, would be inking :D I do the same with my sketch cards - I detail everything in the inks, over a rough sketch :)

If you have a premium membership (subscription) you can use the :thumb : coding provided on the right side of the deviation. The coding can be used to create thumbnail linking of the deviations in DA journal bodies, in widgets, etc. I don't know if it can be used without the membership, I just remember when it started out it was sub only.
