EDIT: The book has been renamed The Chronicles of Dr. Herbert West #1 and hit store shelves the first week of October 2008.

I decided to show you guys what I was working on this past summer.

This is a page from a book I was inking for Zenescope Entertainment back in June and July 2007. The publishing date is unknown at this time, but it was supposed to come out this fall.

These pages were inked in June-July 2007. At the time I was a brush inker but quickly found myself using 99% crowquill on this particular pencil, and my job was to translate certain parts of the penciler's greyscale rendering (shading) into basic hatching which the colourist could then apply rendered colouring to. I felt I was out of my depth but did the best I could to learn on the fly.

The book is Re-Animator #1 and is a comic book adaptation of the H.P. Lovecraft story. It was penciled by Jason Craig, inked by myself, and colored by Thomas Mason.

Did you check out the comic from the movie ever?

And I had no idea Lovecraft made up Re-Animator.

Mmmm no I found out about halfway through the book that there WAS a movie made of Lovecraft's story but I didn't watch it lol. Yeah the movie was based on his story. It was actually a short story (if my memory serves me correct).

The movie is darkly humorous, and pretty gorey.

Hmm maybe I'll rent it someday.

Well the book remains unfinished. Back in July they needed a penciler to finish 5 pages from the book but I don't know what happened. I haven't heard a word or gotten any response from them since SDCC in July.

I don't think I've seen Evil Dead...

Oh the original penciler of the book (and the guy that did this page) is Jason Craig... I think I put his name in the description... anyways he had to go on to WildStorm before the book was done so the last thing I knew they were looking for a new penciler to finish the 5 missing pages.... but I don't know what they're doing with it now.
